Trauma Informed Practice Webinar

Facilitated by Amanda Chalmers

Amanda is a trainer and consultant who works across South Tees, with public sector and voluntary services. She specialises in trauma and trauma informed practice. She is experienced in working closely with professionals in local authorities, care providers, police and probation.  She has created numerous training courses which give an awareness of the philosophy of trauma informed practice and the effects of trauma on people.

Amanda has hands-on experience of working with offenders in both prison and custody settings and uses therapeutic and psycho-social interventions to support people to make change and grow from past trauma. Her therapeutic approaches include, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Integral Eye Movement Therapy, and auricular acupuncture.

Aim: The course aims to equip those working with adults who have symptoms of trauma to understand in more depth how adversity in childhood has affected them and how they can move on from it. It gives practical advice and insight into helping people grow from trauma.

Course Aims & Objectives:
  •  Revisit the basics of trauma informed care and ACEs
  • Understand the concept of the brain story and how the effects of toxic stress without support can lead to physical and mental trauma symptoms.
  • Explore ACE’s in more detail and gain practical knowledge on how to repair the damage.
  • Gain and understanding of the emotional mind and how it can work against us.
  • Gain practical tips on how to help people self-regulate.
  • Explore how to implement learning using a real life case study.
Entry Requirements: 

Delegates should have a basic awareness of Trauma Informed Care. We would also recommend completing the TSAB e-learning module on Trauma Informed Practice prior to attending this course. This can be accessed via our e-learning webpage: https://www.tsab.org.uk/training/

Requesting a Place:

If you would like to request a place, please complete the form below – one form per person is required. Please note that submitting a form does not guarantee a place, however we suggest that you provisionally book the dates in your diary. Our training sessions are usually oversubscribed and therefore allocation of places will be determined by a number of factors. Please ensure that you provide as much detail as possible on the ‘why you want to attend’ section of the form.

You will be informed of the outcome of your application by email from the TSAB Business Unit. Places are not confirmed until this point. If you are unsuccessful your name may be added to a waiting list.

Existing Users: If you have used the website before to apply for a place then you will have an existing user account.  Please select the log-in option at the top of the form to request a place before completing all the fields, otherwise you will be unable to submit the form when you get to the end.

New Users: If this is the first time you have requested a place on training via our website then please complete the form to request a place. You will receive an email from ‘WordPress’ which will explain how to set up your password to enable you to access your account in the future. (The email may appear in your junk folder).  Please do not use a generic email address – accounts should be set up using an individual email.

Charging Policy for Non-Attendance:

Our courses are free to attend, however we do limit the number of places that we offer to ensure that all delegates have the opportunity to participate during the session, so if your place is confirmed and you are no longer able to attend please inform the Business Unit by email as soon as possible so that we have the chance to offer your place to another delegate . Any cancellations must be received by email no later than 11.30pm on Wednesday 19th June 2024. Cancellation after this date or failure to attend may result in a £50 charge.
