Introduction

The Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board is a data controller registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as part of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s registration in their role as host authority. TSAB collects information linked to the conduct of Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs), as well as contact details that allows us to administrate and keep professionals informed about relevant news, events and training courses that are provided by the Board.

As a statutory body it is important that we conduct these activities in a responsible way, in line with the relevant data protection legislation, so that members of the public and professionals have confidence in the way that the Board operates.

The person responsible for the control of this information is Amy Mahoney, Business Manager, Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board: Contact Us

What personal information do we collect and how do we use this?

We collect very detailed pieces of personal and special categories of personal data in line with managing Notifications for and actual SARs. All of the relevant guidance on the arrangements for conducting SARs and the Board’s Information Sharing Agreement can be viewed here: Local Policies, Strategies and Procedures

We hold the contact details of people who register and sign up for any of the Board’s training courses and events as we require this information to administrate the contractual arrangements needed to deliver these activities, which also includes the completion of the post-event evaluation process.

We also hold the contact details of individuals who have asked the Board to keep them informed via local Newsletters.

What legal basis do we have for processing your personal data?

We conduct SARs and hold personal and special categories of personal data in line with the conditions contained within the Care Act 2014 and the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Public Task
  • Legal Obligation

We also hold the contacts details for professionals described above in line with the conditions contained within the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Contract
  • Consent

When do we share data?

We will share information linked to SAR Notifications and Reviews with partner agencies as is necessary, and strictly in line with the Board’s procedures in accordance with the Care Act 2014 arrangements for this, but in a very secure and controlled manner.

Details of your attendance at training courses and events may be shared with the relevant training lead of your commissioning organisation to ensure that your staff development record remains up to date. Otherwise we do not share the personal data that we collect in relation to those subscribing to the Board’s Newsletters, training courses or events with any wider third parties.

Where do we store and how do we secure personal data?

We store all of our information electronically in Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s secure server, which has the appropriate data security and protection measures in place.

How long do we keep your personal data for?

We will only store special categories of personal data linked to SARs for as long as is necessary, although due to the nature of these cases this could be for an extended period of time.

We review the data we hold for those subscribing to training courses and other events annually, and delete the personal information for those opting out of subscriptions to Newsletters as soon as we receive this.
