The Decision Support Guidance is to support professionals, partners, and providers in Teesside to decide whether to raise a safeguarding concern with the Local Authority for an adult with needs for care and support. Safeguarding adults is not solely defined by raising a statutory safeguarding concern; it includes a range of preventative, proportionate and person-centred responses that promote wellbeing, safety, choice, control and human rights.
The Decision Support Guidance should be read alongside the supporting appendix to help practitioners identify the most appropriate pathway and response.
Please note: This guidance is for support when assessing and managing risks and only contains some examples. It does not replace professional curiosity and professional judgement. You should always consider the individual circumstances of each situation when deciding on the best course of action.
This guidance should be used in conjunction with:

- Stage 1 of the Inter-Agency Safeguarding Adults Procedure
