Whether you’re a professional, neighbour, friend, or carer, the campaign will focus on three key messages:
✅ Recognise the signs of abuse and neglect

✅ Report concerns to the appropriate services
The campaign will run throughout the week of 8th September, with resources and updates shared in the lead-up via our website and social media.
Each day will focus on a specific theme:

Every day, 12,000 people become unpaid carers for a partner, family member or a friend – many of whom don’t see themselves as carers, often unaware of their legal rights and what they’re entitled to in terms of support and benefits. This year’s theme is ‘recognising your rights’ – and the aim is to help carers recognise and understand their rights, and to access the support available to them, whenever they need it.

- This short animation developed by Research in Practice sets out what Transitional Safeguarding is and why it matters. It is intended to be highly accessible, rather than a resource for those who already understand Transitional Safeguarding in more detail.
- This resource has been developed by the Transitional Safeguarding Reference Group, hosted by Partners in Care and Health.
- This briefing is aimed at all health colleagues involved in safeguarding children and young adults accessing healthcare – from practitioners and people receiving support through to commissioners, strategic leaders, and others with accountability for safeguarding in health services. This briefing will also be useful for those who don’t usually work with young people and/ or young adults directly but who nevertheless provide care or support to their family members or carers
- This NICE guideline covers the period before, during and after a young person moves from children’s to adults’ services. It aims to help young people and their carers have a better experience of transition by improving the way it’s planned and carried out. It covers both health and social care.
- Chapter 16 of Care & support Statutory Guidance highlights the need for timely transition assessments and coordinated safeguarding where a young person approaching adulthood may be at risk of abuse or neglect.
- The Tees Safeguarding Adults and Children Joint Working Protocol sets out the principles underpinning how the Safeguarding Partnerships work within their defined remits, the interface between the Safeguarding Partnerships and the practical means for effective coordination and collaboration in pursuit of interrelated priorities.
The Adults & Children Safeguarding Partner Organisations across Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees actively support the ‘Think Family’ approach and are committed to the continuous learning and development of all staff and volunteers working with vulnerable people: adults, children, young people and families.
There are often crossovers between children and adult safeguarding work and therefore it is recognised that people who work with children and/or adults greatly benefit from having access to a wide range of safeguarding courses available in one place.
