Activity continues to be consistent with Safe and Well and Home Fire Safety Visits taking place each
quarter by Cleveland Fire Brigade. Development is also underway to make safeguarding referrals
digital.
A piece of work has been undertaken with Thirteen Group to review their safeguarding data. The data
has been able to highlight the number of referrals by Type of Abuse/Age and also by gender.
AL advised that the National Safeguarding Adults Data Collection (SAC) report was published yesterday
and a review will be undertaken to ensure the existing TSAB benchmarks are accurate. A meeting is also
due to take place with Cleveland Police to understand what further data can be shared.
SM advised that she would be interested to see any data regarding violence on sex workers and if they
have gone on to be repeat victims as quite often sex workers are also victims of sexual exploitation. SM
explained that 17 December is the International Day Ending Violence against Sex Workers, a number of
agencies have received invites to raise awareness of the work and being able to share data would be
invaluable.
AMc questioned as to whether data from General Practitioners (GP’s) could be included within the report;
AL advised that currently she can identify that concerns have been made into LAs by Primary Care Trusts
but the detail is not broken down to specific practice. AB to speak to JG regarding this matter.

Appendix 3 – Press Release
Appendix 4 – TSAB Strategic Plan
Amy Mahoney (AM) highlighted the key points from the evaluation report that was circulated to members:
National Safeguarding Adults Week took place from 18 – 22 November 2019 with planned themed
activity co-ordinated by members of the Task & Finish Group. Across the week communication and
engagement took place with professionals and members of the public. This included face to face
activity with the general public, extensive use of social media to improve the profile of safeguarding
adults, adverts in partners publications, press release and an interview with Radio Hartlepool in the
week prior to the planned activity.
The total number of TSAB website views across the week was 1,997, a 40% increase compared to
the previous week and the highest number of views per week in 2019, 70.2% of users were new
visitors to the site. The TSAB website hosted a dedicated awareness week page, accessible to all,
the homepage banner was updated daily to reflect the differing themes. Links were available to ensure
users were able to access numerous resources, support service information and guidance documents
aimed at professionals and members of the public.
Intensive social media activity took place across the week and the most popular post across the week
related to Clare’s Law. The post which was shared via Facebook in partnership with Healthwatch
Middlesbrough and Healthwatch Redcar & Cleveland receiving; 467 likes, a reach of 39,758, 507
shares and 683 other clicks. This outperformed all other posts by a huge margin and can be
interpreted as a clear indicator that domestic abuse support resonates with the local community who
are clearly keen to promote and raise awareness of this type of abuse.
